On Sept. 1, 2004, R.H. Donnelley acquired AT&T Communications Inc.’s directory publishing business in Illinois and northwest Indiana. With more than 120 AT&T Real Yellow Pages directories in Illinois and northwest Indiana, the AT&T Real Yellow Pages directories have a circulation totaling more than 10 million.

Illinois, and Chicago in particular, are important markets for R.H. Donnelley. The Donnelley name has been synonymous with Yellow Pages since Reuben H. Donnelley published the first classified telephone advertising directory in Chicago nearly 120 years ago. When Reuben H. Donnelley established the first classified telephone directory advertising in 1886, he helped create an entire industry that we all know as the Yellow Pages.
